Do you have a golf cart, side-by-side, or an ATV? Are you a person who likes to get things done? If your answer is yes to these two questions, say hello to your new best friend: the golf cart trailer.
You can use golf cart trailers for various projects, like hauling mulch and gardening tools, bringing heavy supplies across the campground, and even towing around a pet.
They’re rugged and lightweight, and you can tow them over all kinds of terrain with ease. Not only that, they’re relatively inexpensive!
But what exactly is a golf cart trailer? And how much can it tow?
Below, we answer these questions and more as we take a closer look at why everyone needs one of these handy wagons in their life. Let’s dive in!
What Is a Golf Cart Trailer?
A golf cart trailer is a small utility trailer that connects to the hitch of golf carts, ATVs, side-by-sides, small tractors, and lawnmowers.
They typically range from 100-400 lbs and can handle anything from tough landscaping jobs to bringing your laundry to the RV Park laundromat.
People love them because they’re easy to hitch on, lightweight, and versatile.
Once you buy one, you’ll wonder how you ever got by without it!
How Much Weight Can a Golf Cart Pull?
The towing capacity entirely depends on the type of golf cart you have, but generally, the average golf cart can tow around 1000 lbs.
Some sturdier golf carts can tow between 3000 and 5000 lbs, but those are usually the exception.
Their ability to tow is what makes golf cart trailers so valuable. They’re lightweight and heavy-duty.
Most of the weight your golf cart will be pulling will be its contents, not the cart itself.

What Do People Use Golf Cart Trailers for?
Now that we’ve discussed what golf cart trailers are let’s talk about how you can use them. We’ll give you a hint; you can use them for basically everything!
Perfect for Campground Owners
Do you own a campground, or are you working as a campground host?
You may be tired of lugging your landscaping tools, trash bags, and everything else you need to perform your duties around the campground.
If so, a golf cart trailer would be the perfect solution.
You won’t have to load things up in the seat next to you and pray they don’t fall out mid-drive; they’ll be laying securely in the cart, allowing all your focus to be on driving to the task at hand.
Laundry
We all know laundry can get out of hand quickly, even for the self-proclaimed minimalist.
You let a week or more go by, and bam, you have a mountain of clothes you need to wash.
But what if you rely on a campground washer and dryer or a laundromat you need to walk to?
This is where a golf cart trailer comes in. Load up those clothes and tow them where they need to go.
Gardening
Are you a landscaper or an avid gardener? Do you have a substantial amount of land to maintain?
If your answer is yes, a golf cart trailer is a must.
Whether it’s rocks, mulch, leaves, gardening tools, or plants, a new trailer will help take the strain off your back in the best way possible.
Bring Your Pet
If you’re lucky to have a four-legged companion that does just about everything with you, do them and yourself a favor and invest in a trailer.
Golf cart trailers are especially ideal for older dogs (or goats, pigs, cows, etc.) who cannot walk long distances.
You’ll be able to take your best friend along effortlessly and without stress.
Move Just About Anything!
Golf cart trailers are perfect for almost any job.
Raking leaves? Golf cart trailer.
Need to move a big rock? Golf cart trailer.
Need to take some trash to the dumpster? Golf cart trailer!
Keep in Mind: If you want to bring your golf cart to the campground you will most likely need to buy a toy hauler.
How Do You Attach the Trailer to a Golf Cart?
Attaching a trailer to a golf cart is relatively simple. If your golf cart doesn’t already have a hitch (and it probably doesn’t unless you special-ordered it), you’ll need to buy a golf cart hitch.
Luckily, these hitches are relatively inexpensive.
You’ll notice that the hitch is a tab with a hole in the middle.
To attach your trailer, slide the golf cart hitch between the two tabs on the trailer and insert the pin to secure it. It’s that easy!
