Let’s get started.
What Is a Bidet?
A bidet is a toilet-like bowl used to wash your genitals and buttocks. It’s a specialized bathroom fixture with a washing mechanism to clean up after using the toilet. Bidets come in a variety of types, shapes, and sizes.
France first developed the bidet in the 1600s. It was an additional fixture in one’s bathroom that sat next to the toilet. So one would first use the toilet and then the bidet.
Can You Put a Bidet in an RV?
Believe it or not, you can put a bidet in an RV. An RV bidet is typically a portable battery-powered sprayer or attachment that you can connect to the existing toilet. RV bathrooms usually don’t have enough space for a stand-alone bidet.
However, if you have a large enough bathroom in your RV, you could consider a separate permanent bidet. Remember that a bidet needs a hot water connection, so you’ll have extra steps in the installation process.
Pros of an RV Bidet
An RV bidet is a hygienic way to clean your bottom side. The benefits also include using less or no toilet paper and decreasing your household items budget.
And it also helps the environment and limits putting toilet paper into the black tank. Keeping the black tank clear of potential toilet paper build-up or damage is a massive benefit.
We love our bidet. It saves us money, as we purchase less toilet paper. And while we use more water, it outweighs the waste of toilet paper. And it keeps us clean and hygienic when boondocking or on long travel days.
Cons of an RV Bidet
The downside to an RV bidet is that it has a more complicated installation. You’ll likely need to add a hot water connection near the toilet. You can bypass this step but be prepared for cold water.
In addition, having a bidet will lead to using more water. So if you boondock a lot, you’ll want to factor in the extra water you’ll use.

Are Bidets More Sanitary Than Toilet Paper?
Yes, bidets are more sanitary than using toilet paper. Bidets use water to clean and wash your bottom without any wiping required.
When using toilet paper, your genitals and buttocks don’t always get completely clean.
Keep in Mind: Do you actually need RV toilet paper? Or is it a hoax or shrewd reality? Let’s check it out!
Do You Wipe After Using a Bidet?
You don’t need to wipe after using a bidet. However, some people prefer to use a small amount of toilet paper to dry themselves after.
And some like to do one wipe with toilet paper before using the bidet. So, ultimately, it’s up to you how you use it. And, of course, you can purchase bidets that have an air dryer.
How Do I Dry Off After Using a Bidet?
If your bidet doesn’t have an air dryer, you can use toilet paper to dry yourself. Or you may consider having a dedicated towel to dry off.
Do Bidets Spray Poop Everywhere?
Contrary to some tall tales, bidets don’t spray poop everywhere. Instead, they use a concentrated stream of water positioned strategically with adequate pressure, so there’s no mess.
