RV Trip Wizard vs. Allstays for RV Trip Planning

There are some key reasons to use both programs rather than just one. RV Trip Wizard is better for trip planning, but Allstays helps find campgrounds and overnight campsites. We’ll get into the uses, pros, and cons of each app in the following sections.

What Is RV Trip Wizard

RV Trip Wizard is a simple-to-use, all-inclusive tool for planning the perfect RV road trip. You can use RV Trip Wizard to find RV parks, overnight parking lots, gas stations, and points of interest.

The most significant difference between RV Trip Wizard and a regular GPS is the option to plan an RV-safe trip. The program automatically finds the best route based on your RV specs. You can enter your height, weight, and length before planning. Then, the integrated RV Life app steers you around steep grades, low clearances, propane restrictions, and more.

RV Trip Wizard shows you how far you can make it in a day. The planning feature includes a driving radius based on your preferences. Then you can choose campgrounds that are close enough you won’t be stuck driving late into the night. Since nighttime driving can be more dangerous in a big rig, this is a fabulous feature!

RV Trip Wizard costs just $59/year. Included in your purchase is access to the RV Life Pro Suite Tools, including an RV Safe GPS and Maintain my RV. The added bang for your buck is a nice touch.

Additionally, you can save 25% off your membership, by using the code “GETAWAY25” during checkout!

Pros of RV Trip Wizard

One pro of RV Trip Wizard vs. Allstays is detailed routing. You can see everything along the route and plan each stop. You can also use it to estimate costs and figure out stops.

RV Trip Wizard does it all! It doesn’t just route plan, show campground reviews, or help you find tourist activities. It’s a convenient way to plan everything in one place.

Cons of RV Trip Wizard

One downside of RV Trip Wizard is that you have to pay to use it. There are other free trip planners out there. But none of them really compare to RV Trip Wizard, especially for RVers!

Another RV Trip Wizard con is the initial learning curve. It takes time to input all your RV information. You also need a little time to adjust to using a new planning tool.

If you aren’t tech-savvy, it can be a lot to take in. Fortunately, they have a comprehensive demo that walks you through each step.

All in all, RV Trip Wizard is an excellent tool without a lot of drawbacks.

What Is Allstays?

Allstays is often touted as an RV trip planning tool. However, that’s a bit of a misnomer. It’s extremely useful in planning RV trips, but technically speaking, it isn’t a trip planner.

Allstays is an app that provides a comprehensive collection of campgrounds, points of interest, overnight parking, and rest areas. It doesn’t provide route guidance, though.

Allstays lets you read reviews from other campers and check out campground photos. These two features help you avoid stays at sketchy or dumpy RV parks. With over 60,000 points of interest, you can find reviews for almost any RV park.

The Allstays Camp and RV app only costs $9.99 for lifetime use. Since most other trip planners charge a yearly fee, you can save a ton of money using Allstays.

Another benefit is that you can use it offline. Since you never know what your reception will be like, offline access can be a lifesaver! Especially if you’re a non-planner and trying to find something last minute.

Cons of Allstays

The biggest drawback of Allstays vs. RV Trip Wizard is that Allstays doesn’t provide any routing. This means you’ll need to use it with another trip planner or GPS. Having to use multiple sources can be a pain.

Another downside is the possibility of missing out on stopping points if you don’t know they’re there. RV Trip Wizard shows you points of interest on your specific route. Maybe you weren’t planning to stop there. But once you see it, how could you resist?! With Allstays, you’ll only see what you’re specifically looking for.

  1. I’m looking for something that will save my routes, parks, and the relevant info like site and dates I was there and then where I went next, kind of diary like, so I can plan a trip with multiple stays. Got any suggestions?

  2. I also like Trip Wizard as it shows the elevation and grade for your entire route. Thus comes in very handy in finding ways over and around mountain passes.

  3. When you listed both RV Trip Wizard vs Allstays and listed pros and cons you missed the major con.
