The Acuva water filter is a UV-LED water purification system. It uses high-tech UV-LED technology to destroy bacteria, viruses, and other pathogens in water. After going through the purification process, the water is safe for consumption.
It can create safe, drinkable water by monitoring the water flow in the system. This filter uses Acuva’s patented IntenseBeam technology and optical lensing with flowing water. This precision beam destroys the microorganisms present in the water. It can kill 99.999% of E. coli bacteria.
Additionally, you can easily maintain this water filter. It has no messy cleaning, and you don’t need to replace bulbs. Don’t worry about wasting space, either, as the device is compact and out of the way.

Do UV Water Filters Really Work?
UV water filters are among the best options for creating clean, safe drinking water. You can take your water purification to a new level using a UV water filter. It’s a great option and one we think is worth considering.
These devices kill 99.99% of microorganisms, are environmentally friendly, and are incredibly reliable. Additionally, these water filters are some of the most effective at destroying Cryptosporidium and Giardia, two chlorine-resistant pathogens often found in lakes and rivers.
Is It Safe to Drink UV Treated Water?
Water treated using UV water filters is safe to drink. This purification method is proven effective for destroying bacteria, viruses, and other microorganisms that can find their way into a water supply.
It’s safe for humans and the environment. The process doesn’t require dangerous chemicals, unlike many other purification methods.
However, since UV water filters don’t remove contaminants like heavy metals, chemicals, and sediment, you’ll want to use additional water treatment methods. Activated carbon filters and reverse osmosis systems work great as partners with UV treatment.

Kills Viruses and Bacteria
One of the difficulties with traveling is constantly changing where we get water. While most places do a great job of providing clean, safe drinking water, you can never be 100% sure.
Thankfully, our Acuva water filter kills as close as you can get to 100% of the viruses and bacteria in the water passing through it.
Theoretically, we could put water from a lake, river, or stream into our system, and it would kill any viruses or bacteria. However, we’re not planning to try this anytime soon; we’ll just have to take the company’s word for it.
Another thing we love about the Acuva water filter is that its UV-LED technology doesn’t require you to use harmful chemicals like chlorine or iodine.
While other proven methods use these chemicals, we don’t like ingesting any chemicals we don’t have to. When we realized we could achieve the same results without harmful substances, we knew it was a match made in H2O heaven.
What We Don’t Like About the Acuva Water Filter
While this type of water filter is a great option, it’s far from perfect. We love the Acuva water filter but found some things we don’t like about it.
Unfortunately, unlike other options, the Acuva water filter requires electricity. For us, we’re using our filter in our truck camper.
We have a large enough lithium battery bank that it’s not a concern. However, if you want to enjoy off-grid camping or use it in another off-grid setting, plan for the electricity needs.
The power requirements vary depending on which model you choose. When in standby mode, it typically draws around 0.1 Watts. However, it will range between five and nine watts in active mode.
If you spend most of your time in campgrounds connected to shore power, this likely won’t be an issue. However, if you enjoy boondocking or other types of off-grid camping, it’s something to consider.

Doesn’t Filter Sediments
While the Acuva water filter and other types of UV-LED water filter systems can create clean and safe water, it doesn’t remove sediments or other particles.
As a result, to get the best quality water, you’ll need to send it through an additional filtering system.
You can achieve this by adding a pre-filter or sediment filter before the Acuva. This will help remove any sediment, chlorine, and other contaminants in the water before it reaches the UV-LED device.
