Winnebago Industries has led the way in the RV industry since the late-1950s. The company has multiple facilities in Iowa, Indiana, Minnesota, and Florida. One of its brands is Winnebago, a respected brand that manufactures towable and driveable RVs like the Revel.

If you haven’t heard of the Winnebago Revel in the camper van lineup, it’s time to learn more about this unique 4×4 vehicle. Let’s dive in and check out this Class B RV.

What Is the Winnebago Revel?

Winnebago Industries is one of the most well-known brands in the RV industry. The company owns other RV brands like Grand Design and Newmar and boat brands like Chris-Craft and Barletta.

The Revel is one of the camper vans produced by Winnebago. The brand has nine Winnebago Class B camper vans. The 4×4 Revel is built on the Mercedes-Benz Sprinter chassis and powered by a 3L turbo diesel engine.

What Other Types of RVs Does Winnebago Make?

Besides Class B camper vans, Winnebago also makes seven Class A motorhomes and seven Class C motorhomes.

The company also manufactures two accessibility-enhanced vehicles — the Inspire, a Class A motorhome, and the Roam, a camper van.

Finally, Winnebago also has a towable line. These travel trailers range from the Hike 100 at 15 feet 11 inches long to the Voyage at 38 feet 11 inches long.

How Many Winnebago Revel Floorplans Are There?

There’s only one Winnebago Revel floorplan, the 44E. This unit features a power lift bed in the rear with a gear garage below.

An all-in-one wet bath sits across from the kitchen, which has a removable counter extension, a portable single burner induction range top, a stainless steel sink, and a pantry. You also get a 3-cubic-foot 12-Volt compressor refrigerator and freezer.

In the front of the camper van is a bench seat with a removable pedestal table behind the driver’s seat. Above the cab is a storage shelf that measures 21 by 56 inches. You can also add a mattress with a support base above the cab.

The gross combined weight rating (GCWR) is 13,930 pounds, with a 5,000-pound trailer hitch rating. Finally, the Winnebago Revel is ready for off-grid travel with its 21-gallon fresh tank and 21-gallon gray tank.

What Are the Cons of Owning the Winnebago Revel?

Like most campervans, the Winnebago Revel can be tight living for more than two people.

Even a couple can find the interior too small to enjoy a camping trip. It’s easy to drive and can fit into regular parking spaces, but with that small size comes tight living quarters.

Owners also mention problems with the fittings and the quality of the craftsmanship. For example, Bill G. wrote a review on RV Insider that said, “Great rig – the design is really good, but the quality/workmanship is a little rough. Be prepared to troubleshoot/repair plumbing issues due to cheap connections/fittings. No issues with the electricity, and it drives great!”

Another owner, John T, wrote, “Easy to drive, decent gas mileage, and enough room for two for about five plus days off-grid. It pulls a light trailer with a four-wheeler easily. Overall, it’s really great van, but for the price, there could have been some better finishes.”

The Winnebago Revel may be great for getting overlanders to hard-to-reach places. But if the interior work lacks quality, this could be a deal-breaker for potential owners.
