Is camper van life calling your name? If so, you’ve come to the right place! Whether you plan to travel full- or part-time, the van you choose can make or break your experience.
We put together a list of the very best camper vans on the market in 2022 to help you with this crucial decision. Let’s go shopping together to find out which one is right for you.
What Is a Camper Van?
A camper van, also called a Class B RV, is a small motorhome built on a van chassis. These rigs are perfect getaway vehicles for solo travelers or couples who appreciate the agility and convenience of a small camper.
Don’t let the word “van” confuse you, though. We’re not talking about a minivan with a mattress thrown in the back. Today’s camper vans offer residential-style luxury like never before. You can expect to find high-tech features, comfortable sleeping areas, functional kitchens and bathrooms, and plenty of storage space.
How Much Does a Camper Van Cost?
We’ll cut to the chase — new camper vans are expensive. Smaller units without bathrooms, like the 2022 Pleasure-Way Tofino, start around $85,000. If you’re looking for something a little larger with full amenities, you can pay anywhere from $120,000 to $235,000.
While this pricing may seem high, remember you’re getting an all-in-one home on wheels. If you were buying a separate RV trailer and tow vehicle, you might pay just as much for the two.

The rear sofa converts to a king-size bed at night, plus Roadtrek offers an optional twin folding mattress for the front cab. With the additional twin bed, the SS Agile sleeps three people.
The camper’s galley kitchen features abundant counter space, a two-burner stove, a stainless steel sink, a convection microwave, and a 3.1 cubic foot refrigerator. This Class B RV also has a permanent wet bath with a marine toilet, stand-up shower, and tankless water heater for long, hot showers.
The Mercedes Sprinter has a diesel engine and a 144” wheelbase. Thanks to the interior standing height of 6’3”, aisle width of 28”, and large windows all the way around, this camper van feels incredibly spacious.
2. 2022 Winnebago Travato
The Winnebago Travato has four floorplans. Each is 21’ long, sleeps two people, and sits on a Ram ProMaster chassis. Touted as North America’s top-selling camper van, the Travato is a thoughtfully designed unit with off-grid capabilities.
Starting with the tech, the Pure3 Advanced Energy System offers 9,000 watt-hours of off-grid power. If you purchase either the 59G or 59K model, you’ll also get a Cummins Onan QG 2800i gas generator. Additionally, each Travato comes with two 15-watt solar panels.
Inside, you’ll find a full galley kitchen with a Corian countertop, microwave, propane cooktop, sink, and refrigerator. The 59G and 59GL units offer double beds in the rear of the coach, while the 59K and 59KL have twin beds. All four floorplans have wet baths with sliding doors for privacy.
3. 2022 Pleasure-Way Tofino
Pleasure-Way’s 2022 Tofino sits on a Ram ProMaster 1500 chassis and is the shortest camper van on our list at 17’9”. It’s also the only one without an onboard bathroom. However, with 70 cubic feet of rear cargo storage, you have plenty of room to add a portable camping toilet.
