Is a Lock Box Necessary for an RV?

You now have several options for an RV Battery Lock Box, but is it necessary to lock your RV battery? Look at it this way. It takes around 30 seconds for someone to steal a battery.

An RV Battery Lock Box is an excellent deterrent to thieves, and if they see that you locked your RV battery tight and securely, they will most likely leave it alone.

But not all RVs need a lock for their battery. Most campervans and fifth wheels have concealed batteries. One would be under the hood, the other in a secure area.

Trailer batteries, on the other hand, are generally between the vehicle and the trailer, easily accessible and visible. If your RV is a trailer, you should consider purchasing an RV Lock Box to keep the battery where it’s supposed to be; on your trailer.

How Do You Secure a Battery Lock Box to Your Trailer?

Generally, your trailer will come with a plastic battery box. To install the RV Lock Box in place of the plastic battery box, you’ll remove the bolts or screws holding the plastic container to the trailer. Then place the RV Battery Lock Box in its spot, centering it end-to-end and side-to-side.

Drill through the holes already in the RV Battery Lock Box to go through the steel brackets attached to the trailer. Then place the bolts into the holes in the box that goes through the steel brackets of the trailer. Tighten them, so they are secure. The nylon straps then go through the box from the bottom.

Push out the knock-out holes and add grommets to allow the cables to come out from the box while preventing any cables from rubbing on the metal edge.

Feed the cables into the box, and then add the battery, fastening it in place with the nylon straps. Hook up the cables to the battery. Close the slide-on top, lock the box with your lock, and your RV battery is now secure with the RV Battery Lock Box.

Keep Your RV Batteries Safe with the RV Battery Lock Box

Knowing that your RV batteries are secure gives you peace of mind. Peace of mind is what you need when heading out into the great outdoors with your family and friends.

It would be best not to spend time worrying about security. With the RV Battery Lock Box keeping your batteries safe, you can now spend that time keeping your family and friends safe. We all know that safety is vital.
