If your childhood was anything like ours, you wanted nothing more than to be in a “club.” Little did we know we’d grow up and join several clubs during our adventures.

They may not have a sweet clubhouse or a secret handshake, but there are plenty of benefits. Good Sam Club is one club that many camping enthusiasts join.

So what are some of the best Good Sam Club campgrounds? Let’s take a look!

What Are Good Sam Club Campgrounds?

Good Sam Club campgrounds are those campgrounds that “create exceptional camping experiences” for the more than 2 million Good Sam Club members.

These campgrounds must meet a minimum requirement regarding offerings, cleanliness, and visual appearance. When club members book a site at one of these campgrounds, they know what to expect.

Campgrounds a part of the Good Sam Club program offer discounts to the club members.

This is typically a 10% savings off the standard rate. It may not seem like much, but the savings can add up, especially if you spend a tremendous amount of time at campgrounds that are a part of the program.

How Many Good Sam Club Campgrounds Are There?

There are more than 2,000 Good Sam Club Campgrounds all across the country.

Whether you’re looking to stay near the beach or the mountains, you can find a Good Sam Club campground to book a site.

The Good Sam Club camping app allows you to quickly and easily find a campground near you or narrow the prospects in a certain area.

Do You Have to Be a Member to Stay at Good Sam Club Campgrounds?

You don’t have to be a member to stay at a Good Sam Club campground. These campgrounds are public campgrounds that simply partner with Good Sam Club to offer club members a slight discount.

Campgrounds approved to join the club benefit from the increased traffic from club members and the Good Sam Club stamp on their marketing materials.

It’s a status symbol of sorts of campgrounds to be a part of the network.

How to Read the Good Sam Rating System

Good Sam Club uses a three-number rating system to access a campground. According to Good Sam, the numbers represent “the campground’s facilities, restroom and showers, and visual appeal.”

A campground receives a score from 1 to 10 in each category. A very select few earn a 10/10/10 rating. However, the numbers can tell you just about everything you need to know about a campground.

The first number represents the facilities when looking at a Good Sam Club campground score.

When judging this category, Good Sam looks at the sites, activities, services, internet access, and the roads within the park. For a park to pass, they must get at least five points.

The second number is the cleanliness and physical characteristics of the restrooms and showers. A campground must earn four of the five points possible for restrooms and showers.

The minimum score for this category is seven points. Good Sam Club knows that RVers and travelers depend on clean and quality bathroom and shower facilities.

The final score in the rating system is the park’s visual appearance and environmental quality. This includes the layout of the sites, signage around the campground, noise, and the general appearance of the entire campground, including the entrance.
