It’s rather simple when considering the best RV battery for boondocking. The Battle Born LiFePO4 deep cycle battery is the best option available. If you have any doubts, check out our consultation for our battery system with the owners of Battle Born Batteries.

Harnessing the power of lithium iron phosphate (LiFePO4), Battle Born provides you the most efficient, stable, and powerful lithium-ion battery on the market.

Battle Born LiFePO4 Battery Management System

A key feature of Battle Born’s LiFePO4 batteries is the built-in battery management system (BMS) the company employs.

In short, a BMS protects the LiFePO4 battery from abuse.

The BMS shuts off the battery to protect its cells and the user from unsafe operating conditions. Whether it is a high voltage or low voltage situation, high or low temperatures, or if there is a short in the system, the BMS will shut the batter off.

The BMS also regulates the amount of power you can take out of the battery and keeps all of the battery cells in balance.

What’s the big deal about Lithium-Ion Phosphate (LiFePO4)?

One of the main reasons that Battle Born’s LiFePO4 is the best RV battery for boondocking is the ability to use the battery’s entire capacity.

A LiFePO4 battery can be fully drained without damaging its overall capacity. Compare that with a traditional lead-acid battery that can only be utilized to 50-percent of its capacity before irreparable damage occurs.

That means more available power in the short term and a longer lifespan in the long term.

Battle Born LiFePO4 batteries are lightweight

Battle Born batteries are 20-percent of the weight of a traditional lead-acid battery in a smaller package. This results in significant weight reduction for the vehicle and more available cargo space.

LiFePO4 batteries recharge faster

Another reason that Battle Born’s LiFePO4 batteries are the best RV battery for boondocking is their faster recharging time than lead-acid batteries.

When you are out in the middle of nature enjoying being off-grid, it kind of stinks to have to disrupt all of that by running your generator all day long.

Lithium iron phosphate batteries charge much faster, so you don’t have to run your generator as long. This will also save you money and time getting fuel.

Even if you’ve gone the solar route, LiFePO4 batteries are still much easier. You don’t have to worry if you’re getting enough sun to power up the batteries. You can keep on boondocking with a quick charge even when the weather isn’t optimal for an all-day charge-fest.

A 10-Year Warranty keeps you on the road less traveled

If all the features of the LiFePO4 battery itself haven’t sold you, Battle Born’s industry-leading 10-year warranty makes it an absolute no-brainer choice as the best RV battery for boondocking.

You don’t have to worry about your batteries, leaving you to focus on your next adventure.

  1. Hi,
Rather than spend money on a solar ‘system’ in my rv, I purchased several Bluetti solar chargers. First, I purchased the Bluetti EB240 and then the Bluetti AC200. Additionally, I purchased 5 BougeRV 170 panels at $138 each when they were on sale. This provides a simple system that is very versatile as I can use the energy in my remote farm home, or in my pickup camper or in my class A diesel pusher. The five panels recharge the large Bluettis in 5-6 hours depending on the sun.
I enjoy your youtube videos and look forward to seeing more of them.
Safe Travels from the farm in Colorado,

  2. Thanks for this blog/email entry! It reminded me that it is time for me to get back to designing our solar/gen/battery/charger/inverter/converter setup.

Not sure if I can swing a 600 Amp-Hr system, as I am limited on storage/hidden utility space and frankly on weight. Our Salem FSX 260RTX is advertised as 5000-5100 dry weight, and it is our toy hauler. MOSTLY, we are going to only be carrying bicycles, but some day we plan to add an electric cart for shooting sporting clays, and that will need to consume a lot of our available load capacity. And our kitchen is all on one side of the TT?TH, so I have to consider side-to-side weight and balance too.

Anyway…. Choosing Battleborn is sort of like the old days when it was said, “No one ever got fired for spec’ing IBM hardware.” Same here… no one will generally contest that Battleborn rules the roost for RV setups. Although, I do have a good working relationship with Bioenno (Use them for large LiFePO4 batts for off-grid, legal-limit amateur radio). But they don’t (won’t likely ever) offer a 10 year warranty on their 100Amp-Hr units.

    Really enjoying y’alls content!
