Sometimes searching for an RV can feel overwhelming. First, you must decide whether you want a towable or motorized RV. Then you have to determine how much you can afford.

Then you have to figure out which floorplan best suits your lifestyle. But we’re here to help! If you’ve at least narrowed down your focus to Class C motorhomes, we have a great list of the best Class C RVs for 2023.

They vary in price to fit every budget and offer differing amenities for all types of travelers. Let’s take a look so you can start making memories by the campfire!

What Is a Class C RV?

Class C RVs are in the motorized RV lineup, along with Class As and Class Bs. Generally, they fall between the large, heavy, luxurious Class A motorhomes and the small, simple, van-like Class B options.

A Class C is a motorhome built with a cab or cut-away chassis. The front of the vehicle looks like a van with a dash, doors, and sheet metal body. It also features the standard cabover space for interior storage or sleeping.

Although Class Bs are the smallest motorized RVs and handle much like a large van, many people like Class Cs because of their handling. A Class C can feel similar to your own automobile.

How Are Class C RVs Different From Class A RVs?

The biggest difference between Class C and Class A RVs is the size. A Class A looks and feels like a tour bus.

A Class C looks and feels like a van or truck. Typically, Class As will reach over 35 feet long. Some even extend over 40 feet. Class Cs, on the other hand, usually extend 30 to 35 feet in length.

Secondly, the cab is very different because of the cabover interior space of a Class C. A Class A will have the iconic giant windshield and larger cab. Class A RVs are also constructed on chassis similar to semi-trucks because of their size and weight.

On the other hand, Class C RVs are built on truck chassis. They appear much more boxy in shape.

What Are the Pros of a Class C RV?

Class C RVs are generally more affordable than Class As. You can get more bang for your buck with similar living spaces at a more affordable price.

The extra sleeping space above the cab is also a huge pro for traveling families. If you want a drivable RV with the most beds, go for a Class C.

These motorhomes are also fairly easy to drive. You won’t feel like you’re driving a huge tour bus like you might if you drive a Class A. The steering and handling feel very similar to that of a large truck.

Finally, a Class C doesn’t require hitching and unhitching. Owners of towable RVs can get tired of dealing with the hassle of setting up camp every time they go somewhere. With a Class C, you can pull into your spot and start exploring almost immediately.

What Are the Cons of a Class C RV?

However, if you want a second vehicle to get around once you arrive at a campsite, you’ll have to tow it behind your Class C.

This requires more money for the proper equipment and extends the length of the motorhome beyond what some people feel comfortable driving.

Additionally, Class Cs won’t have all the bells and whistles of luxury living compared to Class As. You won’t have as high a price and generally only get the basics.

A Class A motorhome will also have much more storage than even the best Class C RV. But this also comes down to size. However, storage is very important to consider if you want to take a long road trip or have lots of outdoor gear to transport.
