Boondocking offers a one-of-a-kind experience, even to veteran RVers. However, you won’t have the luxury of full hookups, which means you need to plan accordingly. Packing adequate water will be one challenge you face, but AQUATANK water bags can help. Let’s learn how.

AQUATANK2 Water Bag Overview

AQUATANK2 Water Storage Bladder (15 Gallon)
  • THE BEST THING SINCE SLICED BREAD FOR THE RV OWNER" Sick and tired of stretching hoses while you're out boondocking?...
  • DECEPTIVELY TOUGH!" Our AQUATANK-2 systems have state-of-the-art material that is thinner and lighter than any rubber...

AQUATANK water bags provide a simple way to bring along more water without adding tanks to your rig. You won’t have to worry about hauling jugs of water, either. The water bag stores 15 gallons — and that’s the smallest available size.

The bags are tough and easy to fill and transport. They’re also BPA-free, which means no weird-tasting water.

You can fill AQUATANK water bags with a regular garden hose. However, if you plan to use them for drinking water, we recommend a drinking water-grade garden hose.

Why Would You Need a Water Storage Bladder?

Water can run out quickly when dry camping. You’ll still need to stay hydrated, especially when boondocking. You’ll also need clean water for bathing, flushing, and doing dishes.

All of that water eats up your supply quickly. Once you’re out, your camping trip ends. AQUATANK water bags offer the perfect solution for people who want to boondock for longer. Don’t struggle with adding additional external water tanks. Simply fill the water bag and load it into your rig.

Our Favorite Features

There are lots of things to love about AQUATANK water bags. Here are the features we like the best.

Puncture Resistant Material

Leaks can waste water and cause a huge mess in your RV. The puncture-resistant material of the AQUATANK storage bags means you don’t have to worry.

The bags are also tough enough to fill and strap down in the bed of your truck. This makes transport and storage easier.

High Capacity

You can find AQUATANK storage bags that hold anywhere from 15 to 300 gallons. Chances are you won’t need 300 gallons when boondocking, but the 30- or 60-gallon options might be worth considering. Even 15 gallons is more than most water bags offer.

Lightweight

The storage bag itself weighs just 1.3 pounds. Fifteen gallons of water will add significantly to that, so it’s nice to start light.

Cons

The AQUATANK water bags fall on the pricey side. You could find cheaper water bags, but they might not be as convenient or durable.

You’ll also need a transfer pump to get the water out of the bag. This means one more thing to buy, bring, and maintain.

Alternatives to AQUATANK Water Bags

You’ve got lots of options when it comes to water bags. If AQUATANK water bags aren’t what you need, here are a couple of alternatives worth considering.

Sea to Summit Watercell X

The Watercell X stores up to 10 liters. It’s made of durable nylon fabric with a food-grade laminate interior. It comes with a lower price tag and a few features the AQUATANK bags lack.

For example, the handle helps you fill and carry this bag. The Watercell X also has a cap that you can unscrew to pour water out easily. You can even hang it up and use it as a shower bag; no additional supplies or pumps needed. Plus, you can fill it straight from your sink.

If you’re interested in a smaller water storage bag, the Hydrapak Seeker offers a fantastic option. It comes in two-, three-, or four-liter options. While smaller than the other options here, you can use multiple bags to up your storage capacity.

The Seeker is BPA and PVC-free. Crush it down when you aren’t using it and store it in the bail handle. The Seeker comes with a lifetime warranty if you experience any issues.

When it comes to water storage bags, you’ve got choices. If you want tons of extra water storage, the AQUATANK water bag can really raise your water capacity. However, you might be looking for something a little more lightweight and portable. Consider your needs before purchasing.
