About Mercedes Motorhomes

In 1896, Mercedes-Benz created a combination delivery vehicle, the first version of what we know today as a van. The first-generation Mercedes-Benz Sprinter van launched in Europe, winning International Van of the Year. Then, it entered the U.S. market in 2010.

Today, the Sprinter is a top motorhome. It’s such a quality machine that numerous commercial entities use the Sprinter cab chassis as a frame for building their motorhomes, delivery trucks, and other commercial vehicles.

What Are the Benefits of a Motorhome Built on a Mercedes-Benz Sprinter Chassis?

A Sprinter cab chassis is “a van cab (body) and rear framework with no rear van body.” These are unibody vehicles, meaning the frame and body are integrated much like modern vehicles. The frame becomes a skeleton, where the body, engine and transmission, and suspension parts mount to it. Then, you mount the motorhome to the framework.

They’re light, efficient, and strong. Plus, they come with many luxurious upgrades and safety features. And they’re dependable. In short, they make the perfect foundation for a host of options, including motorhomes tailored by several manufacturers.

How Much Does a Mercedes Motorhome Cost?

With prices ranging from $160,000 to upwards of $250,000, these things cost a pretty penny. And that’s just the base models without upgrade options. Mercedes motorhomes are the gold standard. You can expect their price tag to reflect that.

Why Are Mercedes Motorhomes So Expensive?

Mercedes Motorhomes are expensive for several reasons. First, they retain their value. Industry experts at ALG selected the Sprinter lines as the vans that will retain the greatest value over the next three years. This is thanks to its fuel economy, durability, and advanced features.

Since the Sprinter cab and chassis make up the foundation of the Mercedes motorhomes, this should give you peace of mind for this large purchase.

Next, they’re full of features. With things like Active Brake Assist, Attention Assist, Active Lane Keeping Assist, Crosswind Assist, Traffic Sign Assist, and even Hill Start Assist, this is one of the safest vehicles out there. The cab offers upgrades like heated, swivel seats, and it has an MBUX infotainment system with a touchscreen. They tow up to 5,000 pounds.

Finally, they’re made to drive. The chassis comes with a 3-liter V6 turbo diesel engine, and it has 188 horsepower with 325 lbs of torque. You’ll have peace of mind with their engine warranty of five years or 100,000 miles. They come with a chassis limited warranty of three years or 36,000 miles.
